Goodday!
Last weekend was the weekend of Pinkpop festival, the biggest festival in Holland. Although Pinkpop is big and succesfull, the line-up dissappoints me more each year. This year, there was only one band on the program that I wanted to see, and I wanted to see them very much, since I also missed their last gig in Holland. The band I'm talking about is the Pixies. I don't think they need any introduction. Here's a video of them playing their classic 'Where is my Mind?' on Pinkpop 2010.

Ye Old Style
Indeed my boy, Sleepy Sun music is beautiful. I'm getting addicted to them and I haven't been a fan for more than one week!
I want to tell you what happend with me recently, I walked into my room and it was such a mess. Clothes were taking a nap all over the place and I was sick of it, the walls of my room have the most beautifull sunny yellow color you could ever image. It's so old but still so sweet and fresh at the same time, love those differents.
But my nice pappie made an own on improvised desk for me, how sweet it was of him, it just wasn't my style so after a few months of thinking if I should take down the whole thing I finally did it next week.
My grandma had this cute little tables, with dark-pink-ish tilings and handmade table legs and she didn't had room for them anymore in her new home, so I was the lucky one who had the permission to take them home.
But.. I didn't hade room for them too, so that was the main reason why I needed to take down my pa's ''artwork'' and now I can't stop looking around in my room and it makes me wish that I had the money to buy a very very good camera...
Talking about camera's, Sito said that his mom had a camera, a very good one. He thought if he just asked where it was I maybe could use it for important days. Unfortunately she didn't remember anymore whe she had put it away and if it still was in good shape, so that means; searching in every corner of the home and let it fix, hopefully that won't take too much time and money!
But for now I need to be happy with my other little digital camera.
Love, Bella

Sleepy Sun
Hey,
I was kinda psyched today, cause the new album of one of my favorite bands of this time, Sleepy Sun came out today.
Sleepy Sun is a psychedelic six-piece rockband from California. They bring very slow, trippy and organic rock, wich is full of plot-twists, guitar noise and beautiful singing harmonies. Their music often makes me think of acid, sweat and dark stages.
I saw them first in May 2009, on the dutch liberation festival in Haarlem. They completely blew me away, and I went to see them again in Paradiso, Amsterdam the week after. They're even better live than on album, seemingly enjoying every minute on stage, and totally trippin out on their own music. It's cool to see that they're becoming more known. They played as support for the Arctic Monkeys last month and will also play the Lowlands Festival here in Holland.
Anyway, their new album is called 'Fever', and below you'll find the opener track 'Marina'.
Enjoy!

Welcome!
Hey all,
Let me too welcome you on the Solitary Stairs on a Distance Glance blogspot, where Bella and I will post some stuff that we find interesting, and we hope you'll find interesting too. As for myself, I will post mainly music related articles. Let me tell you something about myself first.
My name is Sito and I too grew up Beverwijk. I'm twenty autumns young, and fill my days with working at a supermarket, chilling away with Isabella, hanging out with friends and of course making music.
Music is very important to me. My favorite genre is alternative rock, wich is of course a very wide genre. I prefer the psychedelic sound, and amongst my favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Sigur Rós.
I make music myself too, and I hope one day I can make a living of it. My main band is called Vyllanore, and we make psychedelic rock with influences of post-rock and classical piano works. In this band I play bass guitar, and I sing. I also write all the lyrics and vocals. My biggest goal for Vyllanore is to set up massive live shows, I want every person in the crowd to leave with a deep impression. Of course, to achieve this goal, we'll have to work hard, but the beginning is there, and I'm statisfied with it. Vyllanore can be listened here:
My other musical project is called Sally D. This band consists of only two people. I play the drums, bass, vocals and sometimes some other instruments. Sally D is a very experimental band, with main influences from psychedelic rock, noise rock and ambient music. The music is very expressionistic and free, and contains loads of effects and weird noises, made by my companion, the effectsmaster Sido. Check it out here.
Well that's enough introduction. I hope you like my music and keep an eye on this blog for some interesting stuff.
Cheerio!

Introducing Solitary Stairs on a distance glance
Hello there my dearest, welcome in our little world. First of all I will tell you a little story.
I grew up in a town not far away of where I'm typing right now. I have black hair, dark brown eyes, people say often that my pupils are missing, ofcourse that's not true, they are just very dark and dreamy, my eyes. I think that is one of the reasons why my boy is always staring at me. I think his eyes always shine out a kind of wise knowledge which I know here carries within.
I love looking at people and try to discover their secrets. I also love to create beautifull things, places and projects and that's just what I'll do for the rest of my life. Hoping with my boy, always by my side. My parents don't live together anymore, they are divorced for a long while ago. I've never really mourned about for I was to young and way to dreamy then I am now.
Because of several reason I live with my father for maybe 4 months now. My boy helped me crossing that bridge which I really thank him for. I'ts really not that bad! It's just better now. I still love my mother and brother really much. You know what I think? It's up to you how you react and handle to certain things.
I love searching for miracles. And oh yes, the most important reason why I'm blogging is that I'm sharing this blog with my boy.
We will share all our interesting informations and experiences, he mostly about music, me mostly about crafts.
Love, Bella
